With fall break quickly approaching for many college students, everyone has to have the things they are looking forward to most about being home.
I, like most of my friends, have been counting down the days to fall break and my mind always seems to think of everything I cannot wait to be back home for. Who would have thought I'd ever miss home this much, haha! While college is super fun, sometimes a little home can do you good.
My roommates and I must mention these things that we miss at least five times a day, and I am sure most people can relate as well!
1. Your bed
There is no comparison between my bed at home and the bed in my apartment. My sleep is a MILLION times better in my bed at home and sometimes I wonder how I make manage on my bed in my apartment even with a mattress pad on it. Who doesn't have the best nights sleep of their life on their first night back from school?
2. Your parents
Of course, I miss my parents so much while I am at school. I like to think that they know this even if I don't tell them enough; because obviously there is a reason I call/FaceTime them multiple times a week. I am honestly surprised my mom doesn't get annoyed by all the times I run up to her and hug her. College really makes you realize just how much you love your parents and depend on them.
3. Your pets
I swear if I had a dollar for every time these past two weeks I have said that I miss my cat, I would have my college tuition paid off! Everyone has that special bond with their pets that you just can't describe. Pets are able to give you a different kind of love and affection than humans can because they are able to sense anything. My cat always knows when I am sad and comes to my room to get pet. I sure miss having him around to comfort me on days when the stress from classes gets the best of me! He also takes great selfies with me, and not to brag but he is the most handsome Siamese cat ever.
4. Free laundry
No one ever really realizes the luxury of having a washer and dryer at home until they have to pay for it at school! I mean come on, do I look like I have $3.50 to spend on laundry for whenever I want? With this also being said, you already know that I have been wearing every last thing in my closet these past two weeks in order to avoid doing laundry until I can use my washer and dryer at home! Dryers at school NEVER fully dry my clothes, so it will be so nice to be able to just add time free of cost so my clothes will actually dry completely!
5. Home-cooked meals
I am lucky enough to live in an apartment this year, so I still can make my own food. For those that still live in dorm rooms, I am greatly sorry that you still have to eat dining hall food all the time. Even though I can make meals at school, nothing will ever compare to a home cooked meal made by my parents. Something about the food that they make will always taste better than whenever I try to. I know how to cook without burning the apartment down, but I'm starting to get tired of my grilled cheese and tomato soup dinners. Hopefully, with some begging, I can convince my mom to make some Mexican lasagna for dinner one night before I go back!
6. Showering
Okay, this might be kind of weird but when I talk to people about this, they all agree. The showers at school are not the best when it comes to things like water pressure, water temperature and space. I was oh-so-blessed to never have to experience communal showers (shout-out to everyone that has experienced it), but I still don't get the same awesome shower that I can get at home. At home, I just feel like the showerhead pressure is perfect and I have enough space. At school, my hair still feels like it isn't fully washed, and shaving my legs is always more of a hassle than it is worth. Not to mention, at home I can take a bath if I want to relax as well.
7. Your friends
Many of my friends that are also in the state-school system have the same fall break as I do. This is awesome because I can finally see a lot of people that I haven't seen in months. My best friend goes to college at home and thanks God she lives down the street from me, because when I am home from breaks, we are joined at the hip.
