Summer break is finally coming up! But you were just home anyways for Mother's Day, right? Not for us international students...
I mean, we've only been waiting about six months and have to endure a 10-plus hour plane ride until we're home.
We've become so used to talking about home as a faraway place that it has become a concept instead of a real place that we'll actually be in again.
And when people ask whether we're going home for the break:
When we're actually there, we won't know what to do first. Family? Friends? Food? Bed? Partying? So much to do, so little time...
And when we can eat our authentic (insert culture) food...
We also forgot how it feels to know our way around and all the best places to go to.
But we never get a break from the questions. In college everyone is asking about home, and at home everyone is asking about college.
Reuniting with friends consists of intense screaming, jumping, hugging and maybe some crying.
And it truly feels like we never left.
And although summer will pass very quickly...
...we're lucky to have two homes in the world (if not more), but our home abroad will always have a special place in our hearts.
