The sorority girl. This girl could quite possibly be the most stereotyped person throughout every university in the United States.
Would you believe me if I told you I was her?
Though it was never always in my plans, I went Greek. I did the recruitment thing. I talked to so many different girls for hours on end multiple days of the week. I thoroughly picked out each outfit I wore for every round down to the littlest detail. I even got upset when a sorority I really liked dropped me.
But through all the pain and hard work, Alpha Delta Pi was my final outcome and I couldn't be any happier.
I've been asked multiple times why I suddenly decided to go Greek. Before rush, finding that answer turned out to be a hard task for me. I just had a gut feeling that being greek was for me.
Now that I'm in my new home and bonded with a handful of my sisters, the answer couldn't be more clear.
Being away from home isn't easy for me. I miss my mom, dad, sister and pets, even more, each day. Being apart of a sorority has given me a home away from home. I'm constantly surrounded by girls that love and care about me just as much as my immediate family does. They're there for me when I need advice, help with my homework, or even just a friend to talk to.
They've helped me to find my place at ASU, even through a sea of one hundred thousand students.
You may think sorority girls are fake. You may think sorority girls just pay for their friendships. You may think all sorority girls are the same. You may think we all follow the stereotype.
The one thing I know for sure is my sorority makes me feel beyond proud to be a part of Greek Life and will continue to make me feel so for the rest of my life.
