Several reasons why most college students are ready to head back to school and start the new year

Going Back To school As Told By The Cast Of Parks And Rec

Summer has been great and all, but lately, I think I'm ready to go back to school for several reasons. There are some things that I absolutely look forward to, and some that I wish I could avoid that would make going back to college so much better. Here to help me explain the positives and negatives of going back to school is the cast of Parks and Recreation!

1.Reuniting with your Friends

Of course, the number one reason we all want to go back is to once again see our family away from home. Our friends, bros, homies, sistas; all the people we have met during our time at college that have made our lives so much better.

2. Productivty

It's nice to have a good, long break to recharge your batteries from all the work professors and bosses place on you throughout the year, but after a while, you start to get bored and are anxious to do something, anything! Working in general isn't favorable most of the time, but at least it gives you something to do. When you go back to school, you have many things to keep you occupied and productive such as:

Working out.

Joining clubs and organizations.

And of course homework... It sucks, but at least it keeps you busy.

3. Food and Cooking

Yeah... I feel like this can be both a pro and a con. At school, you have the freedom to choose what you eat and how much of it you want to eat. At home however, you get those delicious home cooked meals that you will not find anywhere else. You can always cook your own food, but what could be easier than ramen?

4. Going to class and learning

Going to class isn't everyone's favorite activity, but if you can get by it and pass it, then you can go a little further in life. Not one of the top things people look forward to when going back, but life isn't always a piece of pie.

5. Adulting

You go back to school and you're all on your own. This is when you get that independence that almost every adult is supposed to have so you can be successful in life. However, adulting is probably the scariest thing ever because you still don't know what you're doing with your life and you just want to sleep and eat all the time.

6. Work hard, play hard

And of course, after much studying, working, and adulting, there is always going out and having a blast with your friends to destress and take a break from your worries.

These are only a few of the things I look forward to when I get back, as I prepare to start my second year of college because I know it's going to a great one!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
