7 years ago, I never imagined working outside my home country.
But as the saying goes, "Everything happens for a reason". I was urged by my father to join him in Dubai as it's safer for me than working a night-shift.
I wasn't really sure what to expect. But as an expat with a limited budget, life wasn't that easy.
Sure, Dubai has a lot to offer to tourists and expats alike, but it's not the same for those being paid a minimum salary.
I was disheartened hearing of stories of those who only get 1 day off in a month, or not off at all. Some are only paid a few hundreds of dirhams and that will squeezed for their food for the month and for their families' expenses in their home countries.
I believe this kind of story doesn't only happen here but in every country; two sides of the coin you may say.
And there will always be a time that I will question myself, "Why am I here?". It wasn't what I dreamed of nor hoped for.
But everytime I remember God's salvation, how he found and saved my soul here in this very place, I'm encouraged to keep on keeping on. I remembered my purpose.
Yes, I fail many times. But as my pastor mention several times, "it's not how many times you fall, but how quick you get up and move on"
When you hit a wall and question your existence, remember that you're in a place and time where you're needed because God has a plan for you. When you are frustrated with too many troubles and don't have anyone to turn to, turn to God. Cry unto Him. Just like the song goes:
"Look unto Him, He's been calling you
Go unto Him, He's been waiting for you.
He's all that you need, just cry unto Him
There's no unanswered prayer to Him"
