God's hand in my Friendships

Each meeting was special and some were such a God-thing that it blows my mind.

God's hand in my Friendships

God amazes so much. I often forget how big His hand is in fitting all the aspects of my life together. Every little detail has been planned out and I am so grateful that He took the time to figure everything out to benefit me. I am reminded of God's goodness in so many small things throughout the day; such as a beautiful cotton candy sky, the weather being perfect and a small breeze making me want to stay outside forever, the amazing power of a waterfall, or even driving with the windows down. There are so many things in nature and my day to day life that makes me thankful for God paying attention to detail, but one thing that has made me bless His name a little more this week was the realization that so many little things had to happen for me to meet each incredible person in my life.

I have so many awesome people in my life and I have just been overwhelmed with thankfulness that I was even blessed to meet them. It is so crazy to think that if I had not gone to this one place at this exact time that I could have missed getting to know someone who is such a major role in my life. It is even more crazy to me that even if I did miss that one meeting though, God would have set up another insane meeting because He knew I needed this friend in my life.

I have seen this play out numerous times but this week this fact has touched my heart a little extra. I have been blessed with such great friends and I can think back to the first day I met each of them. I can't even imagine my life without knowing even a single one of them. Each meeting was special and some are such a God-thing it blows my mind. There are a few that stand the most to me though.

One of my best friends is from Norway, that alone is amazing to me. God not only brought my best friend to my country, but to my state, my city, my school, and my class. There is no possible way for me to have met her if God had not had a hand in our friendship. I never would have imagined being best friends with someone who I did not share the same citizenship with. God brought her into my life because He knew I needed this sweet Norwegian friend to help me through the toughest years of my life.

I met my freshman year roommate, who quickly became my best friend at college, by clicking on her Facebook profile. There were hundred of other girls in my freshman class but God knew that I needed this special girl to help get me through college. It is crazy that a friendship has come from clicking on a Facebook profile, simply because I thought she looked cute in the profile picture and I liked the old truck that was in it too.

If my roommate for this year had not transferred, I would not have met 6 incredible girls. God hand picked the girls on my hall and He had a plan in mind from the time we requested our suite last semester to me moving across the hall and placing one of the sweetest girls I know in the room that I had switched out of. There was so much moving around and worrying that was involved in this process, but God had had it all planned and I am so thankful for the result.

These are just a few example in life of how I can see God specifically putting His hand on my friendships. I could go on and on about all the amazing initial interactions I have had and ones my friends have had. God is so great and cares about me so much, and for this I am extremely thankful.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
