You’ve got those couples that have been dating since they were in the sixth grade and you have the others that have known each other for a year but are already engaged. Looking into the Christian dating scene you see a bunch of different stories, each one planned and sculpted by the grace of God. The only thing that seems to be missing is the other half of your couple. Which is really annoying because you know God has your best interest in mind and his timing is perfect it’s just you could really use a special someone right now. Someone that’s there for random lunch dates, somebody to tell you that you're beautiful (or handsome), just someone there to share your love of life with.
It gets tough at times, you know that God will provide that special someone in his own time but the doubts still creep in. Is there something wrong with me? Am I not pretty (or handsome)? Am I too awkward or weird to be loved? These thoughts, while normal, are not from God. They come directly from the creature below. When these thoughts start to creep in stop and remind yourself that the same God that created the universe that put the stars in the sky, the God that painted those beautiful sunsets decided the world needed you. When you start to think you are not worthy enough to receive anyone’s love remind yourself that Jesus thought you were worth dying for! While we focus on not having a special someone we miss out on the most important being out there! Instead of worrying about finding someone on earth let’s start to give thanks and glorify the one who thought you were worth dying for before you were even born. What kind of love that must be! So when the doubts of your self-worth or the opinions of others start to creep into your head remember that the same God that made gravity and the other intricate details of this world also made you and sent his only son to die for you. You are loved and while the timing may not be going the way you want it, God wouldn’t keep you waiting unless it was worth it. So be patient, live in the Lord's presence and remember “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her” Luke 1:45
