Have you ever had one of those days where you can’t seem to win? Like, not even once?
I had one the other day. I felt like everyone in my life wanted something from me. A bunch of due dates seemed to come at me at once, I found out that I double-booked my schedule, I had a million errands to run, a parking ticket was tucked under my windshield wiper, every person on the road decided to go 10 under the speed limit, and someone stole the parking spot I was trying to pull into.
None of those things was detrimental by any means. But for some reason they all piled on top of each other and the weight of them caused me to have at least 17 mental breakdowns. (Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but that’s what it felt like. I mean, I broke down into tears over a freaking box of envelopes.)
Just when I thought I couldn’t take any more, my day turned around completely. As I was walking into Chick-fil-A, a little boy and his parents were walking out. The sweet little boy looked up at me, waved, and said hi to me with the biggest smile on his face.
Right then, I knew God was both calling me out and telling me that everything was going to be okay at the same time. He used the gentleness of a child to show me that beyond all the stress life brings, He is painting a beautiful masterpiece.
We just have to remember that God holds the paintbrush.
The next time you feel like you’re having trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, look for your moment. Maybe it’s when you realize that the reason your last interview didn’t go well was because you had a better opportunity coming your way. Maybe it’s when you find a couple of dollars in your back pocket. Maybe it’s when a little boy’s smile warms your heart.
No matter what it is, remember that God doesn’t always use words to get his point accross.
