God Cannot Be Replaced

Throughout your life as a Christian, there will be things that shadow the importance of God’s relationship with you; Things that seem more pressing to put all your time, energy and passion into -- whether it be work, a hobby, friendships or relationships.

While these things are important to pour your love and care into, there comes a point where we need to evaluate whether we are prioritizing these things over our relationship with God. In the book Exodus, the Israelites worshiped a golden cow during Moses’ absence. As silly and ridiculous as that sounds, many of us worship things that seem so trivial once you think about it -- like paper currency or a mobile device -- and even when we do 'worship' these items, we are still searching for what could be better.

We are so inclined to always want more. Even when we get the thing that we were striving for, like having expensive items or having the most friendships, we will move on to the next thing that we want. The cycle never ends, because we always feel like something is missing in our lives; Something that we just can’t seem to fill. That place will always be God’s.

“Let your love for God change the world, but don’t let your love for the world change your love for God.”

God cannot be replaced in your life, because nothing can compare to the love, trust and understanding that you share with God. Nothing can ever replace the peace that you have when you have a relationship with Him. God is constantly pursuing you, and He knows you better than anyone ever will. When you seek and worship God, your life will be complete. You will have complete happiness and comfort within yourself -- even when your life isn’t so 'perfect.'

Once you step back, and look at your life from a bigger lens, worldly things that once seemed important to us...seem microscopic in the grand scheme of things. God has blessed us with one life to live. What is truly important is to fully love God and pursue Him first. In fact, it is because of God that we have the ability to live and love.

He created you, me, everyone, and everything in this world to love and praise Him. He has chosen you. Now, it is up to you to praise Him with all of your heart, mind and strength.

“The secret of a happy life is giving God the first part of your day, the first priority to every decision, and the first place in your life.”

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
