God Is Great

Even when things get crazy, I try and slow down enough to praise him.

I figured I would write this week’s article over some amazing thing that recently happened to me. I am a server at a pretty busy restaurant, and the other day (Saturday), was no different. I was running around with a full section, and making sure everything was fine and all of my tables were having a fantastic time. It was towards the end of my shift, and I was getting ready to go home. I got sat with my last table of the day, and I put on my biggest customer service smile.

I went to greet my table, and I was relieved to find that they were quite funny. They were a couple on a date, and they were so fun to talk to. I took their drink order, their meal order, and we talked some more before I went to put their food order in. I left the drinks on the table, and left to check out my other tables. As I was doing a walk through, the lady called me over. She told me that God was really putting it in her heart to leave me some money, and handed me some of it in her wallet. I hadn’t even dropped off their food yet, so I really didn’t want to take it.

She wouldn’t take no for an answer, so I put it in my book, and thanked her for it before I went to check on their meal. When I went out to let them know they would be getting their food soon, she told me to sit down beside her. I did, and what she told me next definitely made my day amazing. She said that God kept speaking to her about me, and that she felt as if I was struggling a lot this month to make rent. I was amazed, simply because I never speak of my struggles or anything like that. She didn’t even know I was in my own apartment. She told me that she wanted to give me more money, and handed me a big bill. I definitely didn’t want to take it, because I felt so bad. She put it in my book, and told me that she believed that she was placed in my section for a reason, and she was glad that God had brought us together.

I couldn’t help but to cry, because everything she told me was true. It has been a bit of a struggle for me lately, and I have been so worried about money. She told me that I don’t need to worry, and to let God take control. I couldn’t believe that these two kind, amazing strangers would do something so nice for me. They said they absolutely loved my service and personality, and would ask for me next time they were in. What they did may not have meant much to them, but to me it meant everything.

It restored my faith in people. There strangers, who had no idea who I was, felt the need to help me out so much. They helped me make rent, and they also helped me remember to put more of my trust in God. I always worry about everything, and this helped me stop to remember that I don’t need to worry so much. This taught me that God puts people in your life, and he speaks to you. You always need to listen to God’s voice, because you never know what his message is telling you.

I am not sure if they will ever see this, but I really hope it gets around to them. They are blessings in this world, and I am so blessed that God put them in my life. I am not writing this to brag about anything, except for the wonderful God that I serve. He is so amazing, and I am so glad that I live a Christian life. Thank you God for all of the blessings you have brought me.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
