God Is Enough

Pray hardest when it is hardest to pray.

This is really hard for me. The past two and a half weeks, I suddenly lost myself. I have been lower than I have ever been, colder, harsher, and typically crying tears 24/7. I hate letting people see me cry, but I cannot even count how many witnessed it. I needed to escape my brain but I just could not. A billion thoughts and scenarios raced through my brain. Harder and harder to breathe. The anxiety started to kick in.

And there it was, as I laid on the floor in sweats, three-day greasy hair, swollen eyes, running nose, moments of not breathing, I realized, God is enough. God is in control. My circumstances do not have me -- God has me. Breakups, bills, and school may frustrate me. Circumstances may distract me. They may demand my attention. They may discourage me, but my hope cannot be found in a problem free life. Life is problematic. It is true.

Jesus promised in John 16:33 "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Yes, we can all agree on one thing. Life is a rollercoaster. Whether you are child, teen, college student, young professional, adult, mother, father, we can all agree that life is amazing. And then it is awful. And then it is amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it is ordinary and mundane and routine. We have to breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. But in the midst of the amazing, the awful, and the ordinary, know God is enough. Faith is not a feeling. It is a choice to trust God even when the road ahead seems uncertain.

My hope is centered on Christ, who never disappoints. When you go to God for help, He will always give you strength as you walk through the trials of life. Every struggle, every disappointment, every frustration, gives you the opportunity to experience God for who He is. It is one thing to know his character; it is another to experience it. The demands of life cause us to put a demand on the power of God. He is an ever-present help in time of need.

God stated, "I chose you. I wanted you. I appointed you. I set you where you are [John 15:16]."

My favorite quote states, "God gives his hardest battles to his toughest soldiers." God chooses what you go through. God wants you to go through these trials and errors. God appointed you to fight these battles. God put you in every single situation you go through because He knows You are strong enough because God is enough.

Trails are intended to make us think, to wean us from the world, to send us to the Bible, to drive us to our knees. I am not sure how God is going to work some things out in my life. I am certainly not sure how He is going to work things out in your life, but your focus and my focus will be on His goodness and letting him work out all of the details because God is enough.

Joy comes as we trust God's character.

Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
