As we are approaching Christmas, I have started looking at how lucky I am to be here this Christmas. A little over five months ago, I was in a car accident where I flipped my car over. A lot of people might not have made it out alive or at least without some serious injuries. I made it out with just a few cuts and bruises and glass in my arm. I cannot tell you how lucky and thankful I am that I have a God who is watching over me.
I am thankful for all the little things now. I am thankful for things that, six months ago, I would not have cared about at all. You realize how much you love your friends and how you are lucky that you get to be stuck in their drama. You realize that it is a blessing to have an argument with your mom or dad. You realize that it is a blessing to get your heart broken. You realize how great it is to fall in love. I am thankful for each and every opportunity I have in life now. I don't take people for granted. I love them that much more and I care about them that much more.
But most of all, I am blessed and thankful that God sent His Son Jesus to us to forgive us of our sins. I can honestly say that sometimes I took God's love for granted. I grew up going to church every Sunday, so I treated God's love a lot like I treated my parents' love. If I did something wrong, I knew they would be mad for awhile, but they would still love me no matter what. And yes, God will not stop loving you, but you might stop loving Him if you lose touch with HIm. So do not let that happen; be in constant contact with Him.
I am a lot more open about my faith because I have seen what He can do. He can help you make it out alive, but you have to give your life to Him. You cannot just wait around for the bad times to worship Him and ask Him for help. You have to thank Him all the time for the good and the bad things. You have to thank Him for every day, because every day is a blessing to be here on this earth.
So with Christmas approaching, do not just let Christmas be another day, let it be a day where you are proud to be a Christian. You are not just going through the motions for Christmas Eve and Christmas and then do it again for Easter. Be madly in love with God every single day. I know it might not be the easiest thing to do, but it is so worth it. You will never regret living your life for Christ each and every day. So, do not wait any longer. Live your life for Christ every day and see how you change and how affects the other people around you.
