God Gave Us Dogs

A dog can leave a lasting impression on your soul.

My best friend just happened to come in the form of a four-legged furry creature called a dog. Her name was Kimber. She came into my life in the middle of June, some may say that is a short time for her to become so important to me, but she lived her life to make me happy and my life better.

You cannot find something more loving or more forgiving than a dog. They live for you. You become their best friend from the moment that you greet them with excitement and smother them in love. If you discipline them for something, they immediately try to make it right with you. Kimber was a cuddler, you could scold her and tell her no and she would immediately come over to you and try to start cuddling you. How many human beings can you say are as caring as a canine or are as forgiving as a canine? Not many, that’s for sure.

God gave us dogs to take care of us emotionally. When I was sad, she was there to cuddle. When I was happy, she was there to celebrate my happiness with kisses and play time. She never gave up on me no matter what was happening. When I felt like I was failing she was there to tell me I was being a good dog mom. Who could disagree with a cute little puppy that was trying to cuddle up with you wherever they could fit?

Whenever you come home from having a bad day at work, school, or practice, it’s the dogs that greets you with such excitement that it is hard not to smile that something is so overjoyed to see you just from walking into the house. You have only been gone for a few minutes or hours and they act like you have been gone for weeks. God gave us dogs to make sure we knew that there was still some good in the world and to not give up.

Kimber gained her angel wings on November 7, 2016. She had a hard fight with parvo but God thought that he needed her back much sooner than we would have liked. Please do your research on this fatal infection. Parvo is highly contagious and is very hard for a puppy to fight. Keep your puppies on a good vaccination schedule and make sure you don’t miss your older dog's annual vet visit. Dogs are a mans best friend. Nobody will ever love you with such passion and heart. So do your part and show your love for them by keeping them healthy.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
