Throughout life, you will make mistakes. Whether you are saved by the grace of God or not, you are going to sin. We are not perfect beings by any means, and that is okay because God did not intend for us to be that way. Though we know that God forgives and cleanses us from our sins, why is it that we sometimes cannot forgive ourselves for our wrong doings? Why is it that we do not feel worthy to worship and love an all perfect God?
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
In The Bible, Saul was a murderer who persecuted Christians. When he was saved by Jesus Christ, he was cleansed of his sins and given a new name, Paul. He became one of God’s best disciples. God is not ashamed of you for your past. Your past is something that defines who you are today. Your struggles and the devil’s temptations you have given into before are lessons that make you stronger in your faith today. Whatever led you to or back to Christ is a part of your own journey that you can share to others to help their future. Never let your mistakes take you away from God.
“When the devil keeps on asking you to look at your past, there must be something good in your future that he does not want you to see.”
Many times, temptation wants you to believe that you are not worthy of God’s love because you are unclean, but God says over and over again that He will always forgive each and every one of His children. God will always give you a new start, regardless of your past. Every morning we get a chance to be different. We get a chance to change, to be better, to forgive ourselves and start a new journey with Christ. There is no saint without a past, just like there is no sinner without a future. God’s plans for you today will always be greater than your sins. God has an amazing and beautiful future planned just for you. You need only to listen to Him and pray to follow His glorious path that he has paved for you. God has a purpose for our lives, not despite our past but because of it.
