Presidential Election 2016

God Bless America

Presidential Election 2016
3 Word Wisdom

In my own personal opinion this election has to be the worst one to be a part of for my first time. Since the polls have opened, I have been very stressed out because it is my duty to vote. I do still believe that my own vote doesn’t matter, but because I have the opportunity to vote, I am going to take full advantage of that opportunity.

Donald Trump. The biggest thing I heard from this gentleman was that he wanted to build a wall on the borders between the U.S. and Mexico. My initial reaction was, “Good luck with that.” In the mean time, many others jumped to the conclusion that he is a racist man. I’m sure his statement offended a lot of people—but in 2016, everything offends Americans—though it did not really faze me. I mean, they were just words. In my own opinion, actions speak louder than words. One of the actions I have seen from do is pray. Now, I do not know if those actions were genuine or not, but what I do believe is that prayer is very strong and that God can and will answer our prayers. I am fearful that if Trump does become president that he may care more about money rather than the people of this country. I am not sure what his actual motives are if he does become president.

Hillary Clinton is someone I do not know much about. Honestly, I do not have much care for politics, but the one thing I do understand is that she is a criminal. For that reason I do not think she would be best suited as our president. Also, one thought that comes to mind is, “Is she really wanting to be president for the benefit of this country or to say that she was the first woman president?” Just like Trump I am not sure where her motives lie. Is she wanting to really help benefit this country or does she have her own personal motives?

Does voting for either one make me a terrible person? Does not voting make me a waste of a citizenship? I really do not know what to expect from this election or what the new president will bring to our country. At the end of the day I will trust that God will not turn his back on us. As I also hope that no matter who the president is that we do not turn our back on God the way the Israelites did. We are nothing without God. He is our molder has designed us and he has brought us this far and I do not believe that he abandon us. So, no matter who the next president is I say, God bless America.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
