In a world where everything can be delivered at the press of a button, this pleasure does not stop with your favorite restaurants. While you may be sitting in the library studying for hours on end, laying in bed sick as a dog, or just too busy (or lazy, let's be honest) to get out of the house, your favorite food can be delivered with little to no effort required by you. Thanks to delivery services such as Favor, OrderUp, Postmates, Greedi, Door Dash and too many more to mention, this industry is quickly making its mark on the world. These companies have targeted markets of college campuses and major cities, hitting the ground running and building up popularity. As someone who worked for one of these services and was also a customer, I have knowledge of both sides of the system. Thanks to these services, it seems as though our already lazy nation has upgraded to a whole new level of lazy.
While there are pros and cons of the services, it seems as though we are willing to pay more in order to spend less energy.
Pros:
1. You don't have to get out of your pajamas.
2. Save on gas money.
3. Have food delivered during a hardcore study session.
4. You can have anything delivered if you're not in a steady state of mind to operate a car.
5. Many companies offer promotions and give you a promo code to share so you can save money in some instances.
6. You can get food if you're just too lazy to leave the house.
Cons:
1. The up-charge on your food.
2. Sometimes there are more orders than drivers so you could be waiting longer than it would take to get it yourself.
3. The driver may get your order wrong.
4. Warning: You may become addicted to this luxury.
In the grand scheme of things, the pros outweigh the cons and we're soon going to be consumed by having everything we need delivered. In college, more and more students are willing to spend more money in order to spend less energy, exactly what the industry is targeted towards. While we understand the system of it, these are the kind of services we've been waiting years for. In a world of lazy people, the food delivery industry has expanded to cater specifically to our desires.
All I have left to say is God Bless Our Lazy Nation.
