"We continue down that path by doing what we can to secure ourselves in a dangerous and unpredictable world". –Captivating
It's very evident in today's society that woman struggle with capturing their hearts' desires. We know the truth scripture reads, however, taking matters into our own hands seems much more fulfilling. We all long for many things – a perfect body, job, hair, wardrobe, car, man – so what happens when our hearts continue to yearn for things, or hurt over situations, or when society perceives a picture perfect life we definitely don't portray? Well, my friends, we pour more and more into conditions that lead us into an empty bottomless pit. We become bound to the world, and God wants so desperately to break the chains.
God knows your heart.
We tend to be so terrified to give our hearts entirely to Christ. Questions I find myself asking: What if? How long will He make me wait? Will I have to give up things that I love? We're willing to continue toward worldly ideals that are temporary, rather than surrendering. The Lord knows our heart's desires and aches even before we protest. However, society does a terrible job at promoting and embracing all that we women have to offer the world. Instead, we're almost challenged to take matters into our own hands. We hear things, such as, "Don't be so sensitive," "you need to be stronger," "why do you care so much?" and "you're too nice." This, of course, makes it challenging entrusting that our Father has things under control when clearly society teaches us that we're just too much. So, naturally, we begin to mask all the makes us a woman, finding things to fill all that voids in our heart of hearts.
Made in His image.
The more we search to know God, the more we can actually learn about ourselves. It's not easy being a daughter of Christ in today's society. However, the more we try to hide what's conflicting our hearts, the more we steal away what God has created us to feel. We were given the capacity to experience a multitude of emotions. The more you read scripture, the more you can encounter that our emotions aren't far from Christ's. The desires set so deep within us are a part of being a woman. God made women in His image; what we feel has been impressed upon us by the Father. This certainly doesn't make situations easier, but rather promising that we have a God who not only knows what conflicts our hearts, but a God who expresses a part of who He is through us.
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them". Genesis 1:27
Letting Go.
We all hold tight to things we think we can handle. Truth leads us to the cross, but it's never easy relentlessly giving our hearts desires to Christ. We find ourselves questioning everything. God's will for every individual is something I have ultimately found myself striving for, and wow, is God teaching me how stubborn I am! When life gets hard and we come to a crossroads, it's apparent that most take the course into their own hands. This is where God has pressed patience into my heart. More times than not, it's not only our faithfulness in the Lord but our patience in knowing He will take control, we simply have to give Him the chance.
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is". Ephesians 5:15-17
Gods wants what you want.
Through prayer and patience, I've come to learn that God wants our hearts. The way our hearts ache for worldly desires is the same way God so desperately wants us to ache for Him. Woah! So, where do you go instead of to God when the ache of your heart begins to makes itself known? What a beautiful life we could potentially live if we surrender our hearts to the one who knows our hearts the best.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". Psalm 37:4
