Stop Saying 'I'll Start Tomorrow' And Start Accomplishing Your Goals TODAY
Shelby Arnett

It's easy to get caught up in the stresses and worries of life. Paying rent, searching for a job, or making sure the pets get fed and the plants get watered are only some of the few things that set us back on a day to day basis. Sometimes, it may seem like we are always running, as if there aren't enough hours in the day. We are constantly finding something new to pour over, which can be positive at times. But, on the other hand, we can let those things consume us, which can take us away from our life goals.

Big or small, it is important that everyone sets goals in their lives. It serves as a destination to get to where we really want to be. Goals are meant to be worked for, but oftentimes we find ourselves pushing them to the side when life gets in the way. Though it may be true that obstacles come up when we least expect it, throwing our goals to the curb will only decrease our motivation to complete them.

As humans, we mess up. We fail. We make mistakes. But, that is all part of life's journey. We can't let these setbacks completely diminish our hopes of achieving success in life. We need to stop saying, "I'll start my diet tomorrow" or "I'll cut down on my spending tomorrow." There are thousands of excuses we could come up with, but not a single one of them will increase our chances of reaching what we really want.

We need to start now. Today.

No matter what the goal is, the work that must be put in towards it should start now. There is no point in waiting for the weekend, for better weather, or for the "perfect" moment. If we start now, we will be able to look back on our progress and say, "I'm proud of myself for starting when I did." You will thank yourself in the end for all of your hard work.

I am a firm believer in the fact that life does not give you second chances.

That's why it is necessary that we start living for now instead of the past or the future. Get out and get going! You will not regret going to that cycling class, or starting your first journal entry, or doing 15 minutes of meditation. Whatever it may be, start now. We were not created to let life — or time — pass us by each day. We were individually created to move with passion and joy and kindness. We were created to pursue our dreams without the fear or tomorrow, and to live for each moment.

Here is the advice I give to you, a reader. If you are unhappy with your life or yourself or any aspect of your lifestyle, you have the capability to change it. You have the power to transform your life into something magical without apology. If there is something you have always wanted to do, but never got around to it, NOW is the time! Don't spend another day wishing you had done this or that. Find your fire.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
