The midterm elections are fast approaching, and this election is potentially one of the most pivotal Congressional elections in U.S. history. Being a part of the youngest demographic of voters, I see that my peers like to complain about what is happening in our country, but many neglect their right to vote.
The right to vote is an important freedom that some governments withhold from their citizens. The United States is about democracy, and having a say in your governing administration. The U.S. Government is a system of checks and balances. Voting in the upcoming midterm elections, on November 6th, allows individuals to vote for the people who will hold seats in the House and Senate. This vote affects the party majorities in Congress, and what type of legislation that they will develop.
If you are like me, and see an issue in our current state of government, go out and exercise your personal freedom to vote. Don't stand idly by and watch our country deteriorate. My demographic is the future of this country, and we have to live with the damage that is caused by the upcoming administrations. If we want a say in our future, we must go out and vote NOW!
