You Have To Go To New York City At Least Once In Your Life For These 5 Reasons

New York City, the city that never sleeps. One of the best places in the world if you'd ask me I've been three times now and I would go a million times more if I had the chance. There are a few reasons why you have to go to New York City at least once in your life and I'll tell you why.

1. Theater

As a past musical theatre dancer, I have a great appreciation for the theatrical arts. Although I have only been to one show on Broadway, I think that the whole theatre is such a fun place. I saw Wicked a few summers ago on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing. The actors, the costumes, and the sets are just so awesome, you have to see a show if you go to the city.

2. The buildings

I would go to NYC just for the buildings alone. There are so many different styles and types of buildings, and there really are no two buildings alike. Just take Times Square for instance, all the buildings with the bright digital billboards, so fun and so photogenic too! There are buildings of glass, buildings of brick, stone, you name it. Regardless of the material, no matter what angle or filter you use when taking photos of the New York City buildings, it's absolutely impossible to get a bad picture of them.

3. The food

The food of the city is unlike no other place I have ever traveled. Not only is there street food on every block you turn on, but there are different restaurants all over the city. Some of the best places I have ever eaten have been the many hole in the walls in New York City. And don't forget about the food in Little Italy... TO DIE FOR! There is at least a dozen different Italian restaurants and bakeries with pasta, pizza, and cannolis that you could only dream about. If you go to New York City any time soon I highly recommend trying Black Tap, Lombardi's, and Ferrara's!

4. The culture

The New York City culture is so amazing. There are so many different types of people in the city, but they are all there to enjoy the joys that New York City offers. From China town to Little Italy to Korea Town, there is so much culture to experience and it is so cool to experience.

5. The experience

The New York experience is unlike anything else. The hustle and bustle is really what makes New York so special. There are so many people trying to get to so many places at one time its super cool to see, especially if you take the subway. By the way, if you go to New York City, I recommend taking the Subway at least once because it is just so cool to see how locals and residents get around town every single day. Also, if you haven't been to New York City during the winter/Christmas time, I HIGHLY recommend. The lights and decorations are so stunning and breathtaking, you just have to experience it for yourself!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
