On April 5, 2019, Rowan After Hours (RAH) and Prism, previously known as the Gay-Straight Alliance at Rowan University, held their "Dinner and a Drag Show" event. The event title is exactly what you would expect; as you eat dinner, you get to watch a drag show. However, what you don't expect is how great the show will be!

This was my first drag show, so I was unaware of what to expect. I have seen a few clips here and there from "RuPaul's Drag Race", but other than that, I had no clue what the performances were going to be like. I went to the show to have a good time, and aw man, did these performers deliver! It was everything I hoped for, plus more.

Everyone's performance and costumes were so different and so magnificent that I could not even begin to compare them and tell you who was the best, so I won't. But I will tell you that I 100% recommend everyone to go see a drag show at least once in your life!

Why?

Because not only were these performers beautiful and talented, but they were funny, confident, supporting, and welcoming. I felt as if I was in a room with friends that just happened to be putting on a show for me and an entire audience. They had so much confidence in the way they presented themselves that it made me want to become more confident in myself.

They poked fun at each other, but they also were so supportive. They made the place feel very inclusive and welcoming.

No matter if it was your first drag show or your 100th drag show, everyone in the audience was having a good time. There were moments where the room roared with laughter! It was amazing!

Yes, the dancing, the lip syncing, and the comedy were all wonderful, but how the Drag Queens and Kings made the audience feel is what I will remember from that night. I felt completely overwhelmed with so much joy that I did not want the show to end.

My first drag show will be something I will never forget. I hope, one day, you get to experience the love and the laughter that comes with a drag show at your first show. This is something everyone should experience at least once because, once you go, if you're like me, you'll want to go to another show very soon.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
