Are you thinking about going Greek at Saint Leo? Go for it! There are so many benefits of going Greek, and joining the Greek community at Saint Leo is even better.

1. You gain more than just your brothers and/ or sisters.

When you go Greek, sure, you gain a bunch of sorority sisters! As a Greek on Leo's campus, you become part of a group of like-minded people. Greeks live for each other and live to serve. Not only will you have your sisters to run to, but you'll have connections with other men and women who are in other organizations that can help you in many ways. Looking for a job? Ask a fellow Greek if there's any opportunities they know of. Don't want to sit alone at lunch? If your sisters aren't there, go sit with another Greek. You'll always have someone around to talk to and feel at home with.

2. There is always something to do.

Joining a Greek organization on Saint Leo's campus means you'll never be bored. Your calendar will be full of activities from your own organization, but you'll also have the opportunity to build relationships with a bunch of members of other organizations. From socials, philanthropy events, fundraisers, and Greek guest speakers, there's always something for you to do as a Greek. Not to mention the semi-annual week long Greek events like Greek Unity Week and Greek Week.

3. There's always someone to talk to.

With Saint Leo being such a small campus, it's pretty rare not to have Greeks in your classes. Class sizes are small, and there's bound to be another Greek in your class to talk to. Whether you talk about what's for lunch in the caf that day, or you talk about future leadership roles you want to hold within your chapter, there's a Greek to talk to and get new ideas/perspectives from.

4. Greeks help Greeks.

It's no surprise that members of a Greek organization like other Greeks. When you're older and interviewing for a job in the professional world, there's a chance your future is Greek. If they are, there's something you two will be able to bond and talk about. Greeks know the effort and dedication that comes along with being in an organization, and chances are, they'll appreciate it just as much as you do!

5. Leadership experience.

You're at school to develop professionally, right? So why wouldn't you join a Greek organization to help you do so? Within a Greek chapter, you gain more leadership experience than you could've imagined. In an organization there are plenty of opportunities to hold leadership positions. Interested in leading the whole chapter? Run for presidents. Want a different leadership position, there's many opportunities. You can run for other positions such as V.P, social chair, scholarship chair, etc. On top of leadership position opportunities within your own chapter, there's also opportunities within Panhellenic and IFC for leadership. Within these councils there is a President, Social Chair, Recruitment chair, Vice President of Finance, and other opportunities as well.

6. Recruitment is the best time of year.

As a member of a Greek organization on campus, you look forward to welcoming new brothers and sisters into the Greek community. It's literally like Christmas. New faces, new connections, and new bonds! Recruitment is the best time of year.

Sometimes the best things come from stepping out of your comfort zone, and joining a Greek organization can help you do that! Be different and do something good for yourself. Go Greek!

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
