With the vision of a fraternity through which men shall become better men, improving the lives of not just themselves, but their community, Frank Reed Horton and 13 other students formed Alpha Phi Omega; A non-panhelenic service fraternity founded in 1925 at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Since it's founding, 8 out of 15 presidents have been a member of the brotherhood, coming from various backgrounds politically, but all with the desire to be a good leader.
Transylvania University is hoping to start a chapter of it's own on campus, but needs the aid of fellow students. Currently we are a petitioning chapter, and what that means is that Transy could gain a new fraternity, but first we need 25 new members. As a member, I can not put enough emphasis on how important it is for people to even give the budding group a chance. Unlike the other sororities which include rush, APO is based solely on attendance. Continuously show up to meetings, participate in service events, and once we become a solid chapter, pay dues. Our next meeting shall be on Tuesday, November 8th.
Something great about APO is that it is co-ed. We accept members no matter their race, sexuality, and gender and thus creates a welcoming environment for all. For those interested in joining APO we meet at 6 PM in Conference Room A of the Campus Center every Tuesday. Please contact president Elle Woolery with any questions.
