It's Time To Go Easier On Yourself

You are your most permanent home. Make it a safe one.

It's Time To Go Easier On Yourself

Lay down your weapons.

Unclench your fists.

Let the fighting words shooting through your head fall silent.

You have spent long enough fighting yourself. I know it's easy. It's easier than most anything you've ever done. Something goes wrong so just blame yourself. Get in a fight with someone and spend the next 48 hours convincing yourself you were wrong. Tell yourself they are all better without you. Life is hard but I'm here to tell you that you are just making it that much harder.

It's okay to learn how to admit your faults, to learn how to say when you are wrong, to be able to say sorry when you need to. But that doesn't mean every word that comes out of your mouth should be sorry nowadays. You owe no one an apology for being you. Most importantly, you don't owe yourself one.

You don't owe yourself a apology for living, for feeling, for failing, for loving more than you planned to. And you don't deserve to beat yourself up for them either. There are no set rules for how life is supposed to play out, no guidelines you're supposed to follow that say exactly how you're supposed to interact with the people in your life. This is the one chance you get. There is no time to try to figure out exactly how you're supposed to live because by the time to realize that's your choice, you won't have any time left to put it to use.

You are not the character of your story. You are the author.

You need to forgive yourself. I know it's easy to turn everything on yourself for the sake of others, put yourself down so others can stay up. I know you want to yell at yourself for bringing anything but joy to the people around you but you need to remember you're your longest companion of all. It's okay for others to share the load a little bit.

Stop punishing yourself for being human.

Start forgiving yourself as much as you forgive everyone around you.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.
