One of the perks of being a student at the University of South Carolina is being able to celebrate our infamous mascot — Cocky the Gamecock. Being a Gamecock means many things and has many perks. The most adored perk, however, has to be the phrase, "GO COCKS." It's not only said by UofSC students, but it's celebrated by students nationwide.

Here are 10 scenarios when it's perfectly okay to say "Go Cocks."

1. Holidays

Overwhelmed with how much you're thankful for on Thanksgiving? I bet you're pretty thankful for the incredible university you go to, too, huh? Go Cocks.

Rejoicing the birth of Baby Jesus? You know.. Jesus is the reason the university was founded. Go Cocks.

How about gifting the glorious words of "Go Cocks" for each day of Hanukkah!

2. Visiting family

Treat the family to some giggles as you scream "Go Cocks" from the comfort of your childhood bedroom.

3. Visiting friends

Have friends at different universities? I bet none of them are as spirited as you — GO COCKS!

4. Sporting events

... I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory.

5. Birthdays

What better way to celebrate your special day than to remind others of the passion and beauty of your alma mater... Go Cocks!

6. On Vacation

Honestly everyone, regardless of what country they are from, needs to be blessed with the spirit of the gamecock. Go Cocks.

7. When hearing big news

Yes. Congratulations on that big thing you did. Go Cocks.

8. After a great meal

Thank the food gods for that satisfying meal with the most sacred phrase you know: Go Cocks.

9. At a sausage fest

I feel like this one is also very self-explanatory.

10. Literally at any point in the day

Honestly, you can say "Go Cocks" at literally any point in the day. It's a lifestyle.
