Gluten Free Thanksgiving

A gluten free Thanksgiving can be a lot of pain, but it can happen.

Thanksgiving is a time for countless hours of cooking for a good 15 minute meal. Even before the countless hours of cooking, there is so much prep that goes into the big day. The prep when you're gluten free is 10x crazier. Let's just say, being gluten free on Thanksgiving is no walk in the park. But first, what is gluten? Gluten is the glue or protein that makes the most tasty foods stick together. Gluten is another word for wheat, rye, or barley. So basically, gluten is found in about every Thanksgiving food known to man...pie, gravy, pie, dressing, pie, rolls, pie...OK maybe I really like pie.

Thankfully (no pun intended), at this point in time there are many gluten free options for anytime of the year including Thanksgiving. Aldi, Fresh Thyme, Kroger, Meijer and so many other grocery stores are great places to find gluten free flour, baking mixes, or even gluten free gravy packets. Sure, it may not be like what grandma used to make, but this gluten free Thanksgiving can be made into a new tradition.

I have personally learned how to make a mean apple pie even with having to eat gluten free; all I have to change is the type of flour. Knowing that I can still be involved in my favorite holiday eating the way I need to is such a relief. Let me give a shoutout to my family for being so awesome at figuring out how to make a total gluten free Thanksgiving without a complaint!

Even though figuring out a completely gluten free Thanksgiving can be a total pain in the neck, it can be done. With resources online and in stores for reference, a gluten free Thanksgiving can be done and taste just as good if not better!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
