The world can be a frenzied, chaotic place; we can get so wrapped up in our day to day that we lose sight of our destination. The pressures of checking off each item on our daily to-do list is exhausting and quite frankly seems to be an additional job in and of itself. Trying to set a good example for those around you, achieving the unobtainable for your boss or attempting to fit a mold that you have envisioned for yourself always seems to be out of reach.
We are always on the go, never resting, adding fuel to the fire; no wonder we are mentally and physically depleted by the time our head hits the pillow. The significance of what our day is has slipped our racing minds. Each day is a blessing, just as the others have been, we should be appreciative of God's beautiful creation.
Take a minute, look around you. Have you noticed the lushness of the green tapestry that sways above you in the breeze? Have you noticed the scent just before a rainstorm that seems to be a time warp and for a brief second you're five years-old again, wearing your favorite rain boots, splashing around in the murky puddles? When you drink your morning coffee, do you taste the bite of the bean or the silkiness of the sweetened creamer, or has it all become another tick in a box?
Time is intangible. It is a figment of our imagination, there is no true understanding because we only know that every day we open our eyes to the glistening sun, streaking through our windows, is a gift. We are to live every day as a reflection of God. How will we accomplish this if we are simply running in circles?
We need to get back to our roots, we need to have moments of childlike admiration for our surroundings and partake in the little things that make us feel grounded. Only then may we begin to breathe again, feel the warmth of the sun wrapping its arms around us, lifting the weight off our shoulders. This is when we are at our best, being a testament to God, allowing him to use of as his vessels, his clay- to mold us for his will. Be a reflection of beauty, of love, of strength for our father, for that is when he will be glorified.
