The sound of the announcer calling your name lingers in the air. Your horse bounces with adrenaline as you direct her towards the alley. The arena director yells your name, signaling that arena is clear. In just a few short seconds you will be propelled by the force of the 1200 pound animal beneath you, galloping into a snappy turn. You silently ask God to keep you safe and more importantly, your horse safe as you enter the arena at top speed. It is all or nothing. So many opportunities for injury or failure await you. Hundreds of dollars are on the line. But you run, and you run fast, because every thousandth of a second is potentially detrimental to the life you thrive on.
