Everyone has heard the cliché saying to look at the glass as "half full". This is definitely the better option when you believe the only other choice is to look at it as half empty. No matter how you see it, the glass of water remains the same. Our perception of the glass is the only thing that changes.

The power of our mind is unimaginable. We only have access to a small portion of our brains, so we aren't fully aware of what we are capable of. But one thing you have control over is what you focus on!

Every situation in our life has consequences- both positive and negative. It is our choice to decide which we will give our attention to.

For example: what if we decided to look at the glass as completely full? Technically there is air in the portion without water, so we're not wrong.

The way you view your life is going to determine your reality. And you have the option to look for positivity in life instead of negativity. It all begins with you.

Here are four simple ways to get started.

   1. "I GET to" instead of "I HAVE to."

This simple shift in your vocabulary can make a huge impact on how you live your life. Every morning that you wake up you are blessed with another opportunity to live and be present on earth. You have free will to pursue a life that makes you happy. When you begin to say "I get to go to work today, I get to go food shopping today" instead of saying "I have to go to work today", etc. you shift your energy to be more positive rather than making these daily tasks seem daunting.

 2. Talk about what went right in your day.

If you are telling someone about your day, focus on the moments that made you happy. Summarizing your day with the frustrations of getting caught in traffic, an annoying person, or anything small that could be overlooked, you are allowing that negative energy to stick with you. There are always going to be small obstacles throughout your day, but that's life! Focus on what went right and don't burden yourself or others with meaningless negativity.

 3. Write a list of things you are grateful for.

Gratitude is a superpower. When you learn to truly feel the sensation of gratitude you will understand its power. Write a personal list of people, places, or absolutely anything that you feel grateful for. Whenever you feel that negative thoughts are consuming your mind take out the list to remind yourself of how blessed you are. Reading the list in the morning is also a great way to start your day and carry that feeling with you.

4. Embrace change.

Sometimes things in your life need to be removed to make room for something better. This can be hard for us to understand and can make us feel like everything is going wrong. Try to look for what positive has come from the change and trust that anything that is meant for you will be yours. If a relationship ends, focus on what good came out of it as well as being sad it's over. It is not always easy to see "the brighter side" when life is feeling dark. But you can find comfort in knowing that life will continue to bring you opportunities and that the experience you had also made a positive impact on your life somehow.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
