You might think it’s because I couldn’t handle pre-med. You probably think that I’m taking the easy way out. I’ve heard it all. And every day I question my decision to major in business.
Yes, sometimes I am insecure about my major. Maybe I am taking the easy way out. My peers are taking all these rigorous science classes, and what am I doing?
I used to get hurt when I heard comments from other people. However, recently I have come to a better and more positive understanding of my major. Yes, majoring in business may seem easy. I don’t have to memorize different bonds or plant types. I don’t have to know how the parts of the body function together or understand genetics. That stuff is hard. But try studying something that virtually has no rules. You’ll learn a bunch of concepts and it’s up to you to put them together.
And when we put it all together, we run the company you’re involved in. You could be any major, but business is vital to all fields. Business may seem like it’s just about the money making and innovating; what is overlooked is how we have to communicate with others and work to keep up with the modern times to address the niche market.
Business is so valuable. No matter what your major is, you should consider an MBA. Business degrees provide so many opportunities whether you want to work for a big corporation or start a business of your own in any field of your choice.
The next time you think or say that being a business major is easy, think again. Most of us are, including me, are more than content with our decision to study business. We’re getting an education to run a business one day that you may be working for. Even if our majors aren’t the same, mine isn’t easier. Different things are being asked of us, but we put in hard work just like you do. Even if you're pre-med.
