Give Thanks, And Be Grateful

The little things do matter.

Give Thanks, And Be Grateful
The Typo Times

The most rewarding part of life is gratefulness. You can never compare your happiness and love above anything, and that is the most beautiful aspect of life. To be thankful for the ones who lift you up and never hold you back; these are the people for whom to be grateful. The ones that make a difference in your life and well, make you a better YOU. There is nothing to be ungrateful for because life is special, and the fact that you are even here on earth is something for which to be grateful.

During times of sadness I like to remind myself of all the happiness that I have in my life, either through a time filled with laughter, a time I passed an exam, being there for a friend, telling someone you love them; happiness is unconditional and can be experienced in every possible way. I am forever grateful for this because even when it feels like the world is falling apart, it isn't. All the times we smile and laugh in our lives certainly surpass all the times we are filled with sadness. So the next time you feel like there is nothing in this world for you, or that everyone is against you, don't listen to that devil on your shoulder; there is always going to be someone thankful for you.

What I have learned growing up is the more happiness you spread throughout the world, the more reasons and opportunities you have to be grateful. It feels good to give someone a compliment, doesn't it? And it feels good to give someone a present rather than receive one, right? There's a reason for this and that reason is that spreading joy simply makes you joyful; it fills you with happiness. There is nothing like putting a smile on someone's face, and to know that you are the one that brought joy to someone. Even if it was for one little second, it was a happiness you caused and that is all that matters because happiness is limitless and timeless.

So during this holiday season remember to enjoy the little things, and to not always dwell on the big things. The littlest of things are still something for which to be grateful. Tell someone you love them, spread as many hugs as you can, tell someone they are beautiful, and try to think of others before yourself because if someone did all of these things for you, you would be grateful too. So go, spread this joy, and show others the beauty of being grateful.

And remember, if you are ever having a bad day just think of all the things you are that make you grateful. Maybe tell someone you love them that day, or share a hug with someone because chances are it'll brighten up your mood, and that is no accident my friend.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
