7 Things That Happen When You Get A Great Roommate

Every incoming college freshman anxiously spends their summer taking surveys and messaging others going to their college to try and find the perfect roommate. Roommates can either be a blessing or a curse. Hopefully, you get along with your roommate as well as I get along with mine.

Amazing things come along with getting a good roommate. Here are the cool things that happen when you give a girl a roommate, and they are just as good as when you give a mouse a cookie.

1. You get to have a never ending sleepover

You know that as a little kid you would do everything you could to hide from your parents when they came to pick you up from a sleepover. In college, this never happens. You can have endless nights staying up late talking to your best friend about boys and life and it never gets old.

2. You have access to a whole other wardrobe

While packing for college most girls get nervous that they are not going to have enough space to bring all of their favorite outfits. I have good news though, your roommate is going to want to borrow that cute top that you have and you'll want to borrow her romper. It's a win win situation that you can't get with anyone else.

3. You have someone who always looks out for you

A good roommate will want the best for you and they will always look out for you by motivating you to do your school work ahead of time or go to the gym. Maybe you and your roommate are even watching over each other at parties. No matter what, you have someone that always has your back and will watch over you.

4. You make all of your friends jealous because you love your roommate

Some of your other friends may not have been as lucky as you were to get a good roommate. They may not get the late night talks that you have or they may fight all the time. These are the friends that will spend more time in your dorm than their own, making it feel like you have two roommates instead of one.

5. Everything you buy is 50% off

My roommate and I buy almost everything together. This includes food, dorm decorations, and even Crocs. You always know you have your roommate there to split the price of everything with you, so there is no need to go searching for a bunch of coupons ahead of time.

6. She'll be honest with you

Your roommate will always be the first one to tell you if there is something to change about your outfit or if your eyeliner is uneven. Roommates will never lie to you and they surely won't judge you because they see you at both your best and your worst.

7. You'll make a lifelong friend

If you have a good roommate, it will feel as if you have known her your whole life. At this point, you cannot even imagine your life without her by your side.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
