If you absolutely hate country music right now, it's alright. I was where you were once, and I absolutely despised it. However, I went from shutting it off to wishing I was born in Nashville. Even as I write this, I'm listening to one of my favorite new albums "Life Changes" by Thomas Rhett. If you haven't listened to it yet, you are missing out my friend.
I have no idea how country music got such a bad rep. People always say all they sing about is their tractors and banjos which is both an insult and a huge myth. A lot of the lyrics are not only catchy but deep. They also almost always have a huge meaning behind them. These artists work so hard and I think you at least owe them a chance.
Okay, maybe my love for country music has something to do with the insanely hot men? Have you seen Luke Bryan?
Some of the best musicians out there are country singers! Country music fans are about 48% male and 52% female. It's those songs you just want to sing out loud, with the windows down. I've also always wanted to live in a small town and singing this music makes me feel like I'm a part of one.The lyrics are just timeless and road trips are nothing without it.
Have I mentioned that the songs somehow always make you want to get up and dance? There's nothing quite like a country concert. The songs just know how to make you say "life is good".
My favorite country songs right now are:
1) "Life Changes" - Thomas Rhett
2) "I Could Use A Love Song" - Maren Morris
3) "Blue Ain't You Color" - Keith Urban
4) "Legends" - Kelsea Ballerini
5) "Better Man" - Little Big Town
If you don't like plain country music there are also ones that are more pop-infused. Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, and Thomas Rhett are examples of that. You can't forget about the classics though like George Strait, Reba, Garth Brooks, and Faith Hill. Listen to the legendary powerful voices and appreciate them. Their award shows are also VERY entertaining. Between the music and the artists with amazing personalities, it's a great show.
I grew up in New York and I'm a total city girl but I now love country music.
So let's get rid of that stereotype that only southerners like country music.Their music truly comes from the heart. Also how about those accents? Swoon. There's something about a guy in a flannel playing guitar that has my heart. Don't get me wrong the women in country music are also fierce.
Now, I'm not saying you have to go full Garth Brooks or Tim McGraw right away. Just start out with some Sam Hunt and work your way in. I'm sure you'll love country music just as I do after.
