Often, us girls can get jealous of the things guys take for granted. For instance, they can just put on any clothes they feel like wearing to any event and be on their way. For us girls, we can't always dress as cute as we would like to, or wear whatever we want to in general because we have to think about if some creepy man thinks that the clothes that we are wearing is an open invitation to sexual harassment or even sexual assault.

This is just one example of things we girls and women have to worry about that guys can easily take for granted. Girls have always had it harder all throughout history, and even though we have more rights than ever thought imaginable just within the past few hundred years, we still face many social injustices that we shouldn't have to, yet is a daily struggle for most.

1. Wondering if what I'm wearing will get me harassed or if it's just safe in general.

2. Wondering if it's safe to go somewhere alone

3. Clenching tight onto our keys on the walk to our car

4. Every now and then having to ask someone to walk us to our car

5. Making sure that you always have pepper spray in hand if you are alone anywhere

6. Feeling pressure to wear makeup

7. Being afraid of rejecting a guy because you simply aren't interested, yet knowing they will inevitably get mad and call you a bitch anyways.

8. Properly shaving basically your entire body because society has told you that you have to.

9. When you're legitimate reasons for being mad at a guy, then just being labeled as 'crazy'.

10. Sitting near women in public to avoid being harassed.

11. Calling your friends when you don't feel safe in public just in case something happens.

12. Dressing as ugly as possible so creepy men don't bother you when you're simply going to get milk from the grocery store.

13. Whether or not we are being seen as "leading a guy on" when we are really just being nice and really just want to be friends.

14. Constantly keeping an eye on your drink to make sure that no one is trying to roofie you.

15. Trying not to be perceived as a bitch by making your voice be heard and standing by it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
