We've all heard it...

"Getting matching tattoos is a guarantee you won't be friends anymore."

"Don't do it! You'll regret it!"

"You'll be stuck with her forever!"

It's safe to say, 75 percent of the time, matching tattoos end with sadness or regret but there are always success stories that encourage the other 75 percent of the people that decide to go through with it. Whether you'll have a success story or end with regret, here are some things you need to know before getting matching tattoos.

Whether you are still friends or not, one thing for certain is true. That person has a permanent mark on you. Hopefully, you are still friends and cherish your reminders of such a sacred bond…but if not, it’s okay and here’s why.

When you decided that getting a matching symbol on your bodies was something you wanted to do, most likely, you were at the height of your friendship. Whether it had been the very beginning when everything was still shiny and new or after years and years of putting up with each other, that symbol represents a time-period when you two were inseparable.

It represents the YOU that you used to be. Our everyday encounters chip away and add to our lives in such minute ways that sometimes it’s not apparent until years later when you look back on where you came from. You may not look back and love the person you use to be OR it’s possible that you are proud to have come so far. Either way, appreciate the minutes that you captured when you bookmarked your life at that time.

Whatever the reason that made you decide to get matching tattoos, some type of feeling provoked you. Maybe you went through an experience with one another or maybe you were just proud of the relationship you shared. Whatever the reason may be, at that point in time, the feeling was mutual and in a way, your tattoo represents that. Cherish that. Don’t allow what could be hasty feelings now get in the way of the way you felt when you got matching tattoos.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
