This One's For The Girls

No matter where you are in your life right now, it will get better, then worse, then better again. Your life right now is no indication of what your future will look like, and I hope you understand that. I hope you remember that Rome wasn't built in a day, and that Disney World started as a mouse from man with a dream. When you start to get where you're going I hope you remember who you are and where you came from. No one is too good to go home to mamas for dinner.

I hope you figure yourself out before you expect a man to figure you out. How is a man supposed to know who you are if you don't even know? There are two types of men that will come into your life. The first will help you to find yourself, I hope you are careful to not let him form you to who he wants you to be. The second will come in after you know what you want out of life. A few things may change, but you will be loved for you and nothing else will matter.

I hope you take a hike every once in awhile, even when the weather may not be ideal. If you wait for the weather to be perfect, you definitely will never get anything done. Being one with nature is a feeling unlike any other. I hope you never wait for anything, good things do not come to those who wait.

I hope you find your calling, even if doesn't find you until you are well into your 50's. You never know where life will take you.

Keeping up with the Jones's is completely overrated. Please do not be stupid with your money, be proud of what you have and who you have.

I hope you never become the type of person to be on a boat and not realize how big the world actually is. I am constantly amazed by how enormous Lake Erie is, I know that if I lose sight of that, I need to rethink myself.

My biggest hope is that you never lose your sense of adventure. Wanderlust is a feeling that should never be lost. It doesn't matter where all you have been, there is always going to be a new place to visit, a new train to ride, or a new section of the ocean to explore.

Just remember that life is ever changing, the world never stops moving, and that men do not define you. Love Everyone and stay classy.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
