At some unspecified point in time, you & and friends stop having "girls nights," and they somehow turn into "ladies nights." From sipping soda at 13 and watching "The Notebook" to making heart eye emoji faces at "Magic Mike XXL," sipping wine. Conversations go from just boys and kissing to giggling over your intimate relationships and the walk of shame.
There’s some stage in friendships where you make this transition without knowing it until you turn back around to plan your "girls night," and it just isn’t the right word. That’s when you know you and your girls have become ladies, which is when you need to trade the "girls night" soda for a bottle of your favorite alcoholic beverage, without forgetting your favorite pajama pants. The most important part of the transition, though, is picking ladies that you can have girls nights out and girls night in.
10 Great Ways To Host A Ladies Night In:
10. Game night; whether you and your ladies love to play Jenga, Just Dance, or the ever embarrassing "Never Have I Ever," take this night to laugh about the answers. Find a way to make your own drinking game based on how many times you tear up at "A Walk To Remember." No matter which game you play, it’s sure to be too much fun.
9. Forget the calorie counting! Take a night off of all of the working out and watching what you eat to enjoy a night filled with baking. Trying new recipes that mix Nutella, brownies, and an ice cream sundae. Make them until you have so much food you are forced to take some to the neighbors.
8. Crafting! There's no age to crafting, especially not with wine! Whether you're ladies and you are fashion majors making clothes for a project or re-decorating your wall mirror. Pick a fun Pintrest blog and follow each and every rule (don’t forget the wine, the most important part)!
7. Old school sleepover—no seriously, complete with the old movies you watched as a teen, the junk foods, and chips that you over-ate then and felt bad for later. Just as I described above, literally curl up on the couch with your favorite sodas and enjoy the idea of being young again.
6. Clothes swap party—bring all your (still nice) and newer clothing pieces that just weren’t "the one" for you! It’s super easy to switch with all of your favorite girlfriends that have the greatest style. Shoes, jewelry, whatever you please, thrift shopping in a clean and super stylish manner just like having a personal stylist!
5. With your best girls by your side, it’s literally never too early to start planning your weddings. Grab a few wedding movie favorites ("Bridesmaids," "Bride Wars," "Sex and the City") and take your piles of wedding magazines and start marking those pages and building those Pintrest boards.
4. Similar to the show "Chopped," but martini edition! That’s right, you’re going to need a blender, shaker, some delicious juices rim toppings, and don’t forget the perfect alcohol! Have an uninvited (boyfriend, maybe) third party build three different baskets, build teams depending on your group size, and get to shaking!
3. In need of something new? There’s no better way to change up your look than with all your girls around. Everyone ready to try a new makeup look, dye your hair; maybe even give yourselves some new haircuts? Perfect timing! Get together and spend it in and out of the bathroom even if it means ending up with some really bad makeup looks.
2. Spa night—give yourselves some R&R for goodness sakes. Get some tubs (the kind from Dollar General) and fill them with warm water and some bath salts. Let those feet soak, give yourselves some pedicures and manicures. Flip through your favorite magazines and watch some episodes of "Sex and the City."
1. Pick a movie or series and make it your theme: whether you’re the type of women to "Twilight" it up or choose "Gatsby." Start by dressing the time period! Eat the popular foods from that area, time, or country. Don’t forget to practice the makeup styles and the hair trends that were from that time period.
