For The Girls Who Drink Whatever the F&#* They Want

I'm tired of reading articles defining me by my alcoholic beverage of choice.

Tequila shots to celebrate? Sure!
A glass of white wine with dinner? Definitely!
Red wine after a long day? Mhmm!
Shotgunning a beer? Sounds great!
Sipping on a glass of whiskey? Delicious!

When it comes to drinking, I don't like to limit myself, in kinds of alcohol or in quantity. So when people ask if I'm down for liquor, or beer, or wine, chances are, I will say yes.

I refuse to be pigeonholed as a girl who drinks one specific type of alcohol. I refuse to be a "girl who drinks red wine" or any other kind of alcohol. I get it. I have friends who love to remind everyone that they're a "beer girl" or that they "only drink clear liquor" or will have a glass "only if it's white and not too sweet." Everyone has the right to be whatever kind of drinker they want to be, or to not drink. I have the right to be versatile and not limit myself in the realm of alcohol.

A repertoire of responsible ways to drink alcohol is like having a diverse wardrobe. Sometimes I want to sip on a classy cocktail. Other times I want to stab cans of shitty beer and shotgun a couple on my porch. There's a time for shots, and there's a time for a glass of wine with dinner. I'm an independent woman and I decide if I'm going to pick up a 6 pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade, or if I need some limes for tequila shots.

In a world where we are constantly redefining what it means to be a woman, I refuse to be categorized by what I drink. I drink whatever I want, but even if I limited myself to one kind of beverage, that has no bearing on who I am. My personality is much too dynamic to be defined by my beverage of choice.

So ladies, pour that red wine into a solo cup, fill that wine glass with Natty Lite. It's almost 2017 and nothing's going to hold us back.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
