A Girlfriend And A Dog

The two are actually very similar.

Dogs are a man's best friend. They're there for you when you need a hug and someone to cuddle at night, so is a girlfriend. You may never have thought about it, but the two actually have a lot of similar qualities about them and the kind of things they do.

Who's bed is it anyway?

Every dog owner knows that even if it's as small as a twin person bed, your dog will find a way to squeeze on with you and most likely, it will be in the middle of the bed, or right at your head. If it's a choice for your dog to be comfortable or for you to be able to breath, your out of luck.

For those who like to lay in their bed cuddling their girlfriend, you have probably dealt with the times she's a bed hog. Whether she takes all the covers or all the pillows, you've tried your best to hang in there for the night. But it's shocking to see someone so cute take up such a large amount of the bed.

Dinner for two.

You know the times where you're eating and from under the table, you hear the saddest whimper. Sometimes your dog acts like you've never fed them before. No matter how many times you say no, they don't give up until you at least give them a little something to nibble on. There's also been the times where they help themselves to whatever you've left on the counter...for them obviously

The amount of times you've dealt with asking if your girlfriend wants anything and getting the answer no, to getting half of the food you got yourself taken away. If you've been dating for a while or just thought ahead, you would have known this would happen and get more food than just for you.

Who's this?

One thing dogs do a lot is sniff and bark at someone new. They try to get close to the person and figure out exactly who you have brought into their home. They try to discover if this person is someone they can trust or if they need to get out of here as fast as possible.

While girlfriends don't usually go up and sniff someone you are trying to introduce them to, they do ask a few questions. Mostly questions about how you met and what kind of relationship the two of you have. If it's someone who they find threatening, they try to get to as much information as possible. Like a dog, they wonder how trustworthy the other person is.

Take your time

Let's say you're late for work, you can't leave before letting your dog out or you'll come home to pee all over the floor so you let them out quickly. Thinking your dog would help you out was a mistake. Times like this, you're dog likes to take their time outside, they want to enjoy the fresh air. Getting ready to come back inside is a slow process.

Girls taking a long time to get ready is not a secret. You don't need to be in a relationship to know this. But if you are, then you know that date night preparation starts a few hours before you actually plan on picking her up. Even with starting early, you're usually left waiting for them for a little while they're still getting ready.

How can you be mad at such a cute face?

Whether it be because they peed all over the house or ate your shoe, you sometimes get mad at your dog. While you're telling your dog what they did was wrong, they try their best to show you they're sorry and to make you forget about what they did by wagging their tail.

Fights happen in relationships and for the times that your girlfriend is wrong, she'll try and show you that she's sorry. By doing anything she'll know that you think is cute, she knows that you will forgive her soon enough and that you can't stay mad forever.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
