Pros And Cons Of Being The Girl With Standards

Pro: You know if a guy actually likes you

You know how a gentleman treats his girl and you won't allow a guy to treat you otherwise. This eliminates a lot of the guesswork for figuring out if a guy actually is interested in you.

Con: It might be harder to find guys to date

The fact that you have expectations for how you should be treated makes a lot of guys lose interest, and sometimes that's not the most fun.

Pro: You miss out on a lot of heartbreak

If you start out with a guy who has good character, you're less likely to endure as much heartbreak as you would have if you gave your heart to every Tom, Dick, and Harry.

Con: You get accused of being too picky

Now there's a difference between being too picky and having standards, too picky has to do with superficial things like eye color, height, the type of car they drive. Having standards is about who they are as a person and how they act towards other people. Sometimes people blur the line between those two, though.

Pro: You won't have to second-guess yourself

As time goes on, you begin to see flaws in people that you didn't see at first. If you only choose great guys, you don't have to second-guess whether or not they're worth your time and emotional energy.

Con: You regret rejecting some guys

Sometimes we make mistakes and overthink, and that leads to us missing out on what might have been a great relationship.

Pro: You hold yourself to a high standard as well

When you expect more of those around you, you also need to have those standards for yourself. You become a better person because the people you surround yourself with also hold you to a higher standard.

Con: You come on a little too strong

You know what you want and you aren't afraid to lay it out there. Sometimes that can intimidate even the guys who do meet your standards.

Pro: Your relationships aren't a waste of time

Time is one thing you can never get back, but if it's spent with the right type of people you wouldn't want to get it back anyways.

Some people might disagree, but the benefits of having standards will always outweigh the possible costs for me.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
