So your freshman roommate is going through recruitment and she said you should do it with her? But you shrugged her off and said: 'No way! I am not into all that sorority stuff like you are.' Then she begged, begged, and begged. Finally, you were convinced on the last day to sign up.
I was in your shoes three years ago. My freshman year roommate asked me to go through recruitment with her, thanks Maddie. Even though we didn't end up in the same group together we ended up having a good time. It was a hard decision on my part seeing as though I finally had decided to go through without having met the girls beforehand. I was going in fresh and no exact sorority in mind.
Recruitment is a completely different experience when you are a freshman and you already have enough on your plate. Do you have time to go to all the meetings? Fundraise for your philanthropy? Like your other sisters? Trust me, it gets easier. Throughout my three days of recruitment, I contemplated dropping out and not staying till the final night. When I got into the Phi Mu lodge on the second night, Philanthropy, I knew I wanted to stick it out just so I could run home to them till I went into Alpha Delta Pi. It came down to either Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu on my final round. I was incredibly nervous walking down the stairs to the Greek Village in my heels. I liked both but I didn't know where to belong because of yesterday. They were all amazing. Stepping foot in Phi Mu as my final house it felt right. I sat down with Kelsey Case and I just felt at home. I couldn't stop talking to her. It seemed as though I had known her forever. That was when I knew I would be writing Phi Mu's name down on my bid list.
You will find your forever home during your recruitment process. You might not believe it now but it will happen if you open your mind and let the sisterhood, support team, and friends for life help you decide. To this day I don't regret going through recruitment. I have met my best friends, bridesmaids, a should to cry on, my amazing big, my talented little, and sweet grandlittles. Recruitment is hard, stressful, and sometimes not worth it but I know you can do it.
