To The Girl Who Thought She Had It All Figured Out

Life is great, isn't it? But just when you thought everything was perfect, it all gradually goes wrong.

In high school, it's pretty simple. You go to school and do all the extracurricular activities. More than likely, you don't have a job and your parents pay for everything, so life is pretty easy.

The next step in life is college. For most young teenagers, you start off partying it up the first two years, and then realize during junior year, it's time to get serious and settle down.

So, you believe you've met "the one" and he's perfect. You have found "the one" who makes you feel so special and loved. He's tall, brunette, handsome, and has all the best qualities. Everything's perfect, but one day it starts to change. You look back, wondering what you've done and if you could have changed something to make it work.

Senior year is gradually coming to an end, with graduation pictures, putting your portfolio together, and figuring out what you'll be doing after college.

Trying to figure out what life will be like after college. That means getting a big-girl job, getting married, and eventually having children.

But, doesn't that scare men away? Do men look forward to marriage as much as women do? Women dream when they're little of, one day, walking down the aisle and marrying the love of her life. Men are different: Marriage and settling down are sometimes the last thing on their minds.

So, to the girl who thought she had it all figured out: Take a breath. God has a plan for you. God puts people in your life for a reason, and can easily take them away just as fast as they were brought in.

Having everything figured out isn't always the way life goes. There are many obstacles in life, and maybe God is testing you.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11-11

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
