The feminist movement has one goal - to establish equality for all genders.

I don't understand how any person, especially a woman, can claim to be against feminism. You dream of raising a family, and that's wonderful. However, it's possible, even encouraged, to be a homemaker AND a feminist.

Since our country was founded, feminists have fought hard to provide us with many advancements, like the right to vote and the recognition of domestic violence as a crime, and some people feel like we are done with the fight. It's true that progress is important. However, today, women still have a lot of progress to make.

Did you know that the Equal Rights Amendment has been waiting on ratification from the states since the 1970s? If feminism isn't necessary anymore, why hasn't this been passed? I am grateful for women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony who have given me rights that women before me didn't have, and you should be too. We owe it to the women who will come after us to make even more progress towards equality.

There's nothing wrong with raising a family instead of pursuing a corporate career. However, it's not fair to look down on women who value future success differently than you do. Feminists aren't here to tell you that you have to work a full-time job instead of raising your kids. In fact, it's the exact opposite. We fight for your right to chose how you want to live your life. Women before you didn't have that choice. They were expected to raise their children and clean the house, no questions asked. Imagine what that would feel like. You say that you value traditional gender roles, but is that really what you want? Do you really want to have no choice in how you live your life?

Despite the fact that women are seen as more gentle and calm, the biological differences between men and women are slim to none. In reality, societal expectations, not genetics, have a primary influence on gender expectations. Throughout history, men have been treated as strong leaders, and women have been treated as docile followers. We need to change that. We owe it to the feminists in the past who gave us the rights we have today, and feminists of the future deserve any progress that we can make.

Ladies, let's work together. Whether you want to raise your family, become a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or both, we need to support each other. Women need to stick together and make progress towards equality.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
