Being A Modern Ruth

I know so many amazing young ladies and women who are single. It is so easy, especially as the holidays get closer, to become disappointed that the right man isn’t in your life yet. I have been there and I truly think it is natural to struggle with this. But hear me out… you are disappointed because the right man isn’t in your life yet. You want a man not a boy and you want the right one.

You don’t want a guy that is pretending to be an adult who plays video games in his room throughout the day and is obsessed with games to the point he doesn’t have a life. Or a guy that isn’t motivated.

Or a Christian boy...

You want a Christian man.

You deserve nothing less than a Boaz.

A man who is a leader and a man devoted to God.

You want a guy who has found God.

A guy who has found himself (has become a man) and then a man who can come find you.

You deserve to be pursued.

If we focus on God’s plan for our life the right person will naturally be on the path. Be yourself because your person is made to love those quirks as you are meant to love theirs.

You want a Godly man so you need to focus on becoming a Godly woman so that when he is ready, he will be able to find you.

Waiting is not for the faint of heart, but it's something you can do. It's not just something to “get through,” there are lessons you get to learn and blessings you will receive in your single season even if it is just for a time.

Focus on what God has asked you to do.

Ruth didn’t have to follow His plan, to walk what seemed to be an unknown and fearful journey but she CHOSE to.

She didn’t know or even think that she would meet Boaz.

She had to follow what was before her and she was faithful in the small ways and the largest way by joining and taking care of her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi.

The thing that caught Boaz’s eye was Ruth's willingness and selflessness. Wait for the guy who sees these things. Wait for the man who chases God and then actively pursues you.

The journey you walk as a single lady matters because every day of your life matters!

Your story is the inspiration to help someone on the worst day they face. As others have encouraged you, encourage. As others have uplifted you, uplift others.

Use all your time regardless of your relationship status to be a light.

LISTEN to those around you.

IGNITE passion in your life and in others.

GRAVITATE toward the Ultimate Love.

HEART every human life.

TRUST His plan really is perfect.

Each of these will help you focus on others and the most important relationship you have, with Christ.

Realize who you are to Him every day.

Trust in His plan for your life.

Follow the plan He has shown you.

Need help to find your way? His Word will provide. Pick a Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) or read a Psalm/Proverb for the date. Or maybe read the entire book of Ruth.

Start here.

He is right here. He pursues you always.

The best thing you can do is let Him get close. Open His Word. You won’t regret it. <3 Promise

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
