So recently, I took a lovely trip to the University of Virginia to visit my boyfriend. We went out with his teammates to a bar. I get along with and talk to them, so I know a decent amount about them. Minus Danny and I, there is another couple but besides them. Most of the men on the team are single. Now, most of the time back at Loyola I don't go to college bars, partially because we don’t have that many and the ones we do have I am not a fan of. With that being said, I normally people watch anyway, and people watching in a bar with three single, pretty attractive guys look for girls to be with, and the way the girls reciprocate is pretty entertaining.
Its only 9:30, nothing is happening yet, and I’m sitting next to my favorite one of Danny’s teammates and we're all talking and laughing. Of course Ashton puts his arm around me to lean on him and calls “d-walk” to make him jealous for a second and a few laughs. It's pretty dead and I’m spending this time wondering why we're here so early.
Fast forward to 11, it starts to get more packed; guys and girls start showing up. A group of three girls come up to where we are situated and begin talk to us. One girl began to talk to me in such a way where she seemingly needed my permission to pursue “getting with” the rest of the team because I mentioned I was Danny’s girlfriend. 1. I don’t even go here; they don’t care about what I think (well maybe, but I doubt it.) She then proceeded to complement me and tell Danny not to lose me. Within 5 mins she grabbed my boob. YUP, just grabbed me. That’s nice sweetie, but what are you trying to do here? Watching the dynamic of them trying impress the two boys and Ashton pushing a girl onto the freshman…. Poor Andrew, lol.
11:30- We decided to switch bars, because, I mean, I want to dance and the upstairs of the bar we were in was closed for a private party. Naturally we stand in the line and scuffle through the people trying to skip the “OMG HOW ARE YOU’s!!!!” At last we get in, losing the girl who grabbed my breast, thankfully. We journey to the bar where the of age team, minus Danny, order car bombs. If you're wondering what that is, it's a half glass of Guinness beer with a shot of Jameson and Bailey's, which will eventually be dropped into the glass of Guinness and chugged. As the rounds were passed to the three of them and Danny encouraging the tomfoolery, I watch in slight horror as they chug these concoctions, followed with the slamming of the glass on the bar and Derek saying “alright lets get weird.” We all head up stairs to the dance floor to continue our night and I am nervous.
11:45-12:15- Danny and I leave the boys and move closer to the DJ to dance. I actually have a favorite spot on the top floor of the bar and its in between two large tables. Within minutes the bar gets rushed by people. Girls jump on the table and start dancing on it and pushing me and Danny in between the two large tables. We push by this very large guy to get past into the middle of the dance floor. I feel like a pinball getting bounced around by all the pushing people and movement. People were spilling their drinks on me and getting knocked around. I gaze to my right and I see a few couples who seemed to be having a normal night… within minutes, one guy picked up his girl and pushed her against the wall and started dancing down her body and the other guy tried to sit onto the table while pulling the girl he was with on top of her. It must have seemed fine in their heads but, wow, was that rated R and a sloppy mess.
12:45 after about an hour of this, because I just wanted to dance like a civil human being, I grab Danny and begin to push through the crowd. Because it is so loud, I wave my hand to this guy who is in my way instead of screaming. He gets in my face and screams “OH WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO MOVE A PLEASE WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE.” Okay sir, what are you doing getting into a girl's face. Have you no manners? Where is your mother? I just didn't want to scream "sorry to offend your pretty little fratty head." I’m tired of it, so I leave shortly after this.
I find the dynamic of singles looking for someone to dance with or to go home with interesting to me. Can we do that with out the pushing and shoving though?
