10 Summer Problems Every Girl Knows

Heat + make up = clown face

If everyone feels the same way I feel, they can't wait for the weather to get hot and the summer to really start. And with the first day of the season on Monday, I'm sure everyone is eagerly holding onto their bathing suits and beach bags just waiting for the temperature to rise above 80. But don't forget, ladies: with summer comes fun, but also a lot of annoyances.

1. Shaving your legs every day

This is a big one. Usually during the cold months of winter, we don't mind if our legs get a little stubbly (or worse). But shorts, dresses and bathing suits call for super-smooth legs 24-7, which means a big-time commitment to your razor.

2. Finding a bikini that can handle the ocean

Not only do our bathing suits have to be in style and super cute, but you have to know which is right for your body. The strong, crashing waves of the ocean do not give a rat's ass if you suddenly pop up with your tits free for all beach goers to see or your bottoms floating beside you. The search for the right bikini can sometimes me more difficult than the search for the right man.

3. Sun. Burn.

Enough said.

4. Long Hair

Everyone wants long, beachy-waves mermaid hair for the summer. Unfortunately, the maintenance of it is not so easy. Humidity is especially tough on long hair; don't maintain that and you'll end up looking like Mia Thermopolis (before the makeover.) And in the blazing hot heat it feels like a wool blanket is draped over your back. Definitely not comfy.

5. Make up

Summer is definitely a time for fun parties, BBQs, and events that usually take place outside. Although we always wanna look our best and super cute for these get-togethers, heat + make up=clown face. And swimming with make up on? You might as well just show up to the party with your red nose and floppy shoes on.

6. Periods

As much of a damper that periods are, they're even worse in the summer. You can say goodbye to your bikini for five days and watch everyone else swim or go to the beach. You can't just curl up in bed in your favorite pajamas watching Netflix with the blazingly gorgeous sunshine mocking you through your window. All your cute little dresses and skirts don't look nearly as pretty with period bloat. Ugh.

7. Boob sweat

I don't care if you're busty galore or a full-time member of the itty bitty titty committee: boob sweat is inevitable, uncomfortable and disgusting.

8. Wearing skirt/dresses on breezy days

9. When your butt creeps out of your shorts

Both denim and comfy shorts are culprits of this. Especially with high waist being so popular, your butt is just barely covered on a normal basis. Bend down even the smallest amount, and it's game over. All girls have mastered the pull-down-the-front-and-back-of-my-shorts-as-I walk move to try and save their tushes from popping out.

10. The feeling of sitting in shorts

They squeeze your thighs and stomach. You try to find a comfy position, but it'simpossible. You stick to your chair and have to awkwardly peel yourself off of it when you stand up. And you walk around the rest of the day with those weird red lines on the back of your thighs. Not cute.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
