An Open Letter to the Girl Struggling to Love Herself

This one is for you,

You are enough.

We live in a time where we are told to be a certain way. Where we can’t be ourselves comfortably. Where insulting comes more natural than compliments do. It is understandable that so many people nowadays have such an enormous issue with self-love.

This is for the girl who has an easier time loving others than she does loving herself. For the girl who will put on a smile for everyone else and give the advice she can never take herself. For the girl who can be told she’s beautiful but never really believe it because she doesn’t see it herself.

I know it’s difficult. You need to learn to love the physical and external self, as well as the emotional and internal self. Easier said than done, we must all learn to do so to achieve that happiness we’re all on a journey for.

First off, you are beautiful. Look in your mirror every morning and compliment yourself. You find no problem complimenting someone else, so try it on yourself.

Surround yourself with the right crowd. You have to be sure you spend time with people who raise you up rather than bringing you down. Have people who believe in you even when you don’t believe in yourself.

Believe it or not, you’re the hardest on yourself. You may think you have flaws, but they’re just what makes you, you. No one is exactly the same and everyone has those talents that they excel in and also things they lack in. We all have our so-called faults, but that’s what makes us different and special

Everyone has bad days and some people struggle longer. But you are strong. You’re also not alone. There is always someone you can go to for help. Even if it be just to vent, there are always plenty of people around.

Also, when it comes to insecurities, everyone has them. Some people are better at hiding their insecurities and others are not as good. There truly is no reason to hide them because if you talk about them others can tell you there is nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has insecurities, but in all actuality, there is no need to be insecure about anything about yourself because we were born to be ourselves. We are supposed to be the best version of ourselves, and the only way to do that is to embrace our self completely.

We are all beautiful in our own ways. It may be difficult now, but it won’t stay that way. Strive to be the best, embrace yourself and find peace with yourself, and things will all fall into place. You may not see it but while you’re sitting there wishing you looked like ‘this person or that person,’ someone is looking at you wishing the same.

In the meantime of learning to love yourself, your friends and family are loving you trying their best to help – accept the help.

Things do get better.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
