Does it ever feel like life is out to get you? Do you go through days where nothing seems to go right? What do you do when this happens? Do you continue with your daily tasks? Do you take a break? Do you just want to give up?
Girl, pray about it.
Luke 18:1 states, "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." God is always there for you. If you're anything like me, then you question God when things don't go your way. It's so easy to put the blame on someone else, even when this "someone else" is God. You probably wonder why God would ever let this happen. The truth is, God did let this happen. Instead of doubting God, pray to Him. Ask Him why these things are happening. Ask Him what He is trying to show you. Ask Him to help you in getting your life back on track.
Do you have days you want to relive over and over again? Do you have times where you are thankful for what is going on in your life and don't want anything to change?
Girl, pray about it.
I often remember to pray about what seems to be going wrong with my life, but I constantly forget to pray when things are going right. Colossians 4:2 states, "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Don't only pray during the downs in life; pray during the ups. Praise God for these great times and thank him. Remember Him during the wonderful moments of life, because if it weren't for Him, these things would have never happened.
I bet you thought you escaped high school once your graduated college and moved on to the "real world." Think again. You will run into drama and conflict your entire life. For a people-pleaser like me, drama is tough. I just want everyone to get along. This becomes exhausting. I lose sleep and productivity. It is then that I need this reminder:
Girl, pray about it.
Pray for understanding. Pray for peace. Just pray. God is there, just waiting to help you. The catch is, you have to ask. Ask God to help you be more like Him. To be more patient like Him. To be more loving like Him. To be more accepting like Him. When the people around you are making life difficult, be more like Him. The words of the Apostle Paul, "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us," (Ephesians 5:1-2) remind me to be more like Jesus.
Do you have a hard time understanding why someone could hate a person when they don't even know them? Do you wonder why people judge by the color of someone's skin, their genetic makeup, or who they love?
Girl, pray about it.
For me, this is the hardest. My heart is constantly heavy worrying about people I know, and ones I don't. I worry for the victims and loved ones of mass shootings, who were hated by someone they never knew. I worry for children who lose their family because of who they love. I worry for the recently transitioned college student who fears violence because they are being who they truly are. It is Isaiah 43:1 that helps me through this: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine." I pray that God holds His children close, on both sides of violence. I pray for God to nurture and teach those who hate; I pray for God to support and love those who are hated upon.
At the end of the day, there will always be someone to listen to any of your concerns. You just have to share them.
Girl, pray about it.
