To The Girl Who Isn't Sure She Wants To Join A Sorority

I mean who else would I be able to play intramurals with and have a few good laughs?

Going to Kansas State as a sophomore I was 100 percent sure I wanted to join a sorority. My parents were both Greek and still talk about all the friends that they made in college through Greek life. So I signed up for primary recruitment the day you could and thought I was ready to go.

Turns out I was not ready for it at all. Primary recruitment will be nothing at all what you think it will be, and nobody will be able to prepare you for the very long week of endlessly repeated conversations. Although some people actually love this week.

Anyways, I got to campus the week before school started, as every girl going through primary recruitment does. We all got moved into the dorms and then went off to a meeting which was the first event of the week.

The next day we started the recruitment process. The first two days are exactly the same. You make your way with your group to every single house on campus. You speak to many different people and meet a lot of new friends.

After the first two days is when it gets hard for some. Houses start to cut, and for me, like many others I met, I decided to drop out of recruitment.

After that, I was not sure if Greek life was really for me, but then I met someone through continuous open bidding. We were very similar and I knew then that I wanted to get to know more people in the house.

All it takes is that one person you really just connect with and whether you find that person through primary or continuous open bidding, you will eventually find them throughout the process.

With that being said the process is different for everyone. My roommate had a great experience with primary and found her home during that time. My other roommate decided after going through primary Greek life was just not for her.

Everybody is different and every house is different. Some people think Greek life is not the way to go and that is okay, but I would recommend it to just about anyone. I have met a lot of great people and cannot wait to meet more in the next couple years.

These people you meet no matter what house you end up in will be your friends for life. You make so many good memories such as homecoming week, big/little reveal, philanthropy events, and I mean who else would I be able to play intramurals with and have a few good laughs?

Anyways with all that being said, I could not be happier with the fact that I chose to go Greek and anyone reading this article and attending KSU next fall should definitely go sign up for recruitment ASAP!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
