Why Every Girl Needs A Derek Morgan

Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan. Wow, doesn't that have a nice ring to it. Derek Morgan has become one of the most iconic "Criminal Minds" character, and there is no denying that every girl needs a man like him. For those who don’t know, he is confident and assertive. Morgan acts like a big brother to Spencer Reid, the nerd of the team, and flirtatious with the technical analyst, Penelope Garcia. Morgan is the muscle of the team, kicking down doors, and apprehending suspects using physical force. Here are 11 reasons why every girl needs a Derek Morgan.

1. Morgan has overcome struggles.

Morgan has overcome his “hood life” in the projects of Chicago. He still goes back and visits his family. What is more attractive than a family man?

2. College athlete: hot.

Who doesn't want to date the star quarterback at Northwestern University? I know I would.

3. Who doesn't want to be called “Baby Girl?”

If you are a fan of the show, you know at some point you wish that you were Garcia. Think: Derek Morgan calling your “baby girl” every time he sees or calls you.

4. That smile.

Self-explanatory.

5. The obvious: Derek Morgan’s body is straight out of a magazine.

Also, self-explanatory.

6. Intelligence is key.

Derek Morgan has the body and the brains. He works for the dang FBI, saving lives, tracking down serial killers. What more could you want?

7. He is not afraid to be in touch with his emotional side.

Derek Morgan cries, he works with passion, he never gives up. He wants to have a wife, a family, and a successful career.

8. He can keep a good secret.

You can trust Derek Morgan with your life. He keeps all the secrets of the FBI, his friends, and his victims.

9. Tattoos.

What fan doesn't love when Morgan wears that black V-neck with his arm tattoos popping out? If you do not love this, you aren't a true fan.

10. He will kick down any door to get to you.

I mean he kicks down doors for victims he doesn't even know, so just think what he would do for you were his "baby girl."

11. Derek is a loyal friend.

Derek Morgan is the jock, but his best friends are a bunch of nerds. He helps Spencer Reid pick up girls. He helps Penelope Garcia learn to love herself. He is willing to help anyone he needs it. Derek will be your best friend and your protector.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
